Bambu Lab H3 Color Series Less Purge Waste. Smaller Footprint. A Smaller Bin for a More Efficient Generation of Printers The new generation of Bambu Lab multicolor printers produces significantly less purge waste during printing. Less waste means less space is needed to collect it. This design is not intended to be the lightest or most economical purge bin available. That was never the objective. Instead, the focus is on creating a solid, well-designed accessory that looks and feels like a finished product, something that deserves its place next to your printer. Its substantial weight, combined with the anti-slip TPU feet, also provides excellent stability, helping prevent the bin from gradually shifting due to printer vibrations over time. This is not just a waste container. It's a carefully designed accessory, built to complement your printer. This compact edition of my original Nice Purge Bin follows the same design philosophy: a functional accessory that looks and feels solid. The concept remains familiar, but the dimensions have been reduced to better suit the needs of these new machines that produce far less purge waste. Embed TPU for noise dampening What's Different? Smaller footprint: A more compact design, taking advantage of the reduced amount of purge waste. Simpler construction: The functional components can be 3D printed, with no additional manufacturing equipment required. TPU anti-slip feet: Designed to provide grip, stability and vibration damping. TPU interior mat: A flexible liner that protects the bottom of the bin and helps prevent hot purge material from sticking directly to it. Material flexibility: TPU 75A is the recommended material for the soft components, but other TPU's can also be used. Same design language: The clean geometry, contrasting materials and transparent viewing window remain part of the original concept. The TPU part will print interlocked with the PLA parts. Design and Components The project consists of several components: Bin: The main container, printed in standard PLA or another suitable material. Base (optional): Provides additional stability and supports the anti-slip feet. Deflector: Helps collect purge material that may be ejected beyond the container. Transparent Window: Allows the contents to be checked without removing the bin. A 0.3 mm transparent PVC sheet is recommended for the clearest result and can be cut manually. This can be printed with translucent PETG or PLA (file available on 3MF print profile) Feet: Printed in TPU 75A for improved grip and stability. Interior Mat: Printed in TPU 75A to create a flexible, removable protective surface inside the container. TPU 75A — Recommended, Not Mandatory For this version, I used the new TPU 75A material for the feet and interior mat. Its softness makes it particularly suitable for these components. The feet provide a more compliant contact with the supporting surface, while the interior mat offers noise dampening effect when the purged material falls on it. However, TPU 75A is not essential. Other TPU hardness grades or suitable printable materials can be used, depending on what you have available. Bear in mind that stiffer materials will provide less cushioning and grip. The remaining components can be printed using standard PLA. PETG is also a suitable alternative. Optional Magnetic Base As with the original design, the base can be assembled as a removable component using magnets, making it easier to separate the parts for cleaning or maintenance. The original magnetic configuration uses: 8 × cylindrical magnets, Ø10 × 3 mm. The base can also be assembled permanently if preferred. Printing and Assembly This project is designed to be straightforward to print and assemble. The main components should be printed separately. For a more refined appearance, I recommend using contrasting colours for the main bin, base and deflector. The soft TPU components can also add a subtle colour accent. A red TPU gasket is positioned between the two main sections, improving the contact and fit between the components while providing a more refined assembly and a premium feel. This new version follows exactly the same idea, adapted to a generation of printers that needs less space for waste collection. Less waste doesn't mean giving up a well-designed accessory. It simply means we can make it smaller.
