Hey everyone! With the upcoming release of the Bambu Lab S1, today’s post revisits the topic of 3D scanning. I’ve been 3D scanning for several years now, and over that time, I’ve likely stuck thousands of markers onto all sorts of objects. Beyond the fact that removing them is often a hassle—and they usually get ruined in the process—I also really dislike the economic aspect of constantly throwing things away. That’s why I developed this mesh for 10mm Scan Markers. it’s very easy to print and allows you to create high-quality scans with minimal setup time. You simply drape it over the object you want to capture, and you’re ready to start scanning immediately. Alternatively, you could also use it as a base or mat for scanning objects. To start off, I’ve created a grid measuring approximately 500x500mm, but I’m more than happy to expand this for the community if there’s a need. 750x750? 1000x1000? Anything is possible! :) Assembly is incredibly straightforward. The pill-shaped mounts for the markers consist of two parts that are screwed together. I’m already working on various other versions of these components—for instance, designs that can accommodate several smaller markers, oriented not just upwards but also to the sides. Once I’ve tested these with the relevant markers and am satisfied with the results, I’ll make them available here as well. There isn’t really much else to say about it, and I think it’s fairly self-explanatory. Should you have any questions, 1
