Armadillo Box - Bands Fold Away, No AMS

This box borrows its lid from the three-banded armadillo. To protect itself, the animal rolls into a ball: its three movable bands slide under each other and the head and tail shields close the gap. The lid here uses the same three bands.   Pull the front tab: the first band slides under the second and drags it along, then the third. They all stack in a pocket at the back, so the box opens to about 160° and nothing hangs over what's inside. Push the tab to close it, it wedges into a notch and stays shut.   No AMS needed, one color per plate. The armadillo uses 2 colors (black and sand on the left in the photos), the plain box only one.   A few things I'm happy with: - small pegs in curved slots link the bands, so one pull opens everything - the lid folds behind a raised back wall, not into the box - the scales are engraved, so the bands still slide inside each other - head, tail and feet push in on small pegs   I also made a plain version without the armadillo parts.
