ADVENT CHIMNEY – MODULAR 3D PRINTING DESIGN ============================================= Version: 0.1, INITIAL PRINT PROTOTYPE This design is a standalone CAD model based on the operating principle observed in the featured video; it is not the original STL set from the video's creator. Precise dimensions cannot be determined from the video, so the sizes must be verified through test prints. No assembly testing has been performed. PACKAGE CONTENTS ----------------- - Adventi_Kemeny_Modularis.scad: editable, parametric OpenSCAD source file. - STL/module_left.stl: extension to the LEFT (odd numbers: 1, 3, ..., 23) – 12 units required. - STL/module_right.stl: extension to the RIGHT (even numbers: 2, 4, ..., 24) – 12 units required. - STL/gate_01.stl ... gate_24.stl: unique, numbered panels for days 1–24. - STL/fireplace.stl: fireplace body – 1 unit. - STL/hearth.stl: grey fireplace base – 1 unit. - STL/mantel.stl: fireplace top / mounting rim for the chimney – 1 unit. - STL/cap.stl: removable lid for the top of the chimney – 1 unit. - minta_5_szint.png: technical visualization featuring five levels. - osszeallitott_24_szint.glb: digital 3D model for viewing (not an STL file). THE COMPLETE PRINT: 52 physical components 12 left-side chimney modules + 12 right-side chimney modules 24 numbered tiles + 4 fireplace base components. BASIC DIMENSIONS ----------- Chimney module: 106 x 86 x 26 mm, plus 3 mm high connecting tabs. Nominal height of the chimney: 24 x 26 = 624 mm. Fireplace unit: 150 x 112 x 80 mm. Base: 172 x 142 mm. Total height with the optional top cover: approx. 724 mm. The numbered pull-out panel requires an additional ~26 mm of space to the side. Recommended minimum printer build area: 180 x 180 mm. OPERATING PRINCIPLE ------------ Each chimney module is hollow, featuring four connecting tabs on top that link to the next module. Beneath the top of each module, there are two guide rails along which a numbered panel slides. This panel closes off the bottom of that specific level. Pulling out the panel opens the compartment; the gift then falls downward—by gravity—through the previously emptied levels and into the fireplace. The daily numbers increase from bottom to TOP: 1 at the very bottom, 24 at the very top. Pull-tabs for odd numbers are located on the left, while those for even numbers are on the right. INITIAL TEST PRINT – HIGHLY RECOMMENDED --------------------------------------- Print ONLY these first: module_left.stl 1 pc module_right.stl 1 pc gate_01.stl 1 pc gate_02.stl 1 pc Check that the connections fit correctly and that the sliding plates move freely. Do not print all 24 levels at once! ASSEMBLY ------------- 1. The base of the fireplace is the "hearth" element. The corners on the underside of the fireplace unit align with the connecting pins on the base. 2. Attach the "mantel" element to the top of the fireplace. 3. The lowest chimney section (for Day 1) sits on the tabs located on top of the mantel. 4. Slide the panel labeled "1" onto the track through the opening on the LEFT side, ensuring the numbered tab protrudes to the left. 5. Place the wrapped gift for that day onto the panel. 6. Add the next level—the module for Day 2—by inserting its connecting tabs into the slots on the level below. 7. Insert the panel labeled "2" (which pulls out to the RIGHT) and place the gift for Day 2 on it. 8. Repeat this process up to Day 24, then finish by attaching the top cap. 9. On any given day, once the corresponding panel is pulled out COMPLETELY, the surprise will fall through the now-empty levels below and land inside the fireplace. 3D PRINTING SETTINGS (RECOMMENDED) ------------------------------------ - 0.4 mm nozzle, 0.20 mm layer height. - Use PLA or PETG; ensure the sliding panels are smooth and free of burrs. - 3–4 wall lines, 10–20% infill; use extra top/bottom layers for the panels. - Print the modules vertically, with the open top facing upward. - Print the pull-out sheet horizontally, with the numbers facing up. - Supports or a test print may be required for the fireplace arch. - A clearance of 0.25–0.4 mm at the joints is generally a good starting point; the exact value depends on your printer's calibration. - When stacking parts, ensure they are clean and fit together well; secure the bottom unit in place if necessary. IMPORTANT LIMITATIONS --------------------- * No physical test print or actual load test has been performed yet. * The tall tower (approx. 72 cm) is prone to tipping over. If children are present, the assembled structure MUST be securely anchored, or a wider and heavier base should be designed in future iterations. * Use only wrapped sweets or small gifts; direct contact between 3D-printed surfaces and food may pose hygiene and material safety concerns. * Ensure that any gift placed inside can fit through the compartment and the fireplace opening; it should not be fragile, sharp, or excessively heavy. * No specific Santa Claus figure is included; the top lid can be decorated. MODIFYING PARAMETERS -------------------- Open the .scad file in OpenSCAD. For the upper section, adjust: W, D, H, wall, and clearance. In the quick preview mode, the 'assembly' view displays only 5 levels; change the setting to 'preview_levels = 24' to render the entire tower. If you modify the dimensions, you must re-export the corresponding modules and plates, as existing STL files will not automatically rescale! This design is a prototype; perfect fitment across all types of 3D printers is not guaranteed.
