Boost MeIf this saved you a trip to the hardware store, a Boost would mean a lot! 🚀 I spent a lot of time tuning the auto-clearance so the threads actually work on real printers – your support helps me keep improving it and adding new features (more head types, washers, fine-pitch presets). Thank you! 🙏🔩 Need a bolt you don't have in the drawer? Print it. This is a fully parametric ISO metric bolt + nut generator. Open it in Parametric Model Maker, set what you need and hit Generate – no CAD skills required. ✅ WHAT YOU CAN SET - Size: M3, M4, M5, M6, M8, M10, M12, M14, M16, M20, M24 - Thread direction: right-hand (standard) or left-hand - Head type: hex head, socket head (Allen key) or headless threaded rod - Bolt length 4–200 mm and thread length (full or partial with a plain shank) - Nut height: ISO standard or custom - Custom pitch (fine threads) - Quantity: up to 50 sets, 1–4 nuts per bolt (nut + lock nut), auto-arranged on the plate - Thread quality (segments per turn) 🎯 AUTO CLEARANCE – THE IMPORTANT PART Printed threads usually fail because the tolerance is too tight. Here the clearance is calculated from the thread pitch, so every size gets a fit that turns smoothly but still holds: - M3–M5: 0.16–0.26 mm per part - M6–M12: 0.32–0.56 mm per part - M14–M24: 0.60 mm per part Too tight or too loose on your printer? Use "clearance_tweak" (+ looser / – tighter) once, and it applies to all sizes. Manual mode is available too. 🖨️ PRINT TIPS - Print the bolt head down and the nut flat – no supports needed - Layer height 0.12–0.16 mm gives the cleanest threads - Turn on elephant foot compensation (~0.15 mm) – it's the #1 reason the first turn gets stuck - Set seams to "Back" or "Aligned" - FDM: M6 and up works best. M3–M4 is better on resin. - Material: PLA works, PETG is tougher for functional use - Tip: print one M8 first, tune the clearance, then print the rest 💡 GREAT FOR Replacement bolts, jigs and fixtures, toys, prototypes, cosplay props, furniture knobs, oversized demo threads for teaching, left-hand threads you can't buy locally. Made in OpenSCAD, single file, no external libraries. If it worked for you, please post a Make – I love seeing your prints! 🙌
