Easy Footy RC Sailboat

Let me introduce my version of the “Footy” class model sailboat. It is based on the Italian “Easy Footy” design, from which it inherits the overall dimensions, some design features, and the sail plan, which remains unchanged. The original was a very simple and inexpensive design made from Depron foam. I have reworked it for 3D printing. The rudder and sail control mechanisms are entirely housed inside the hull. All the parts are glued together, except for four screws (circled in red), which allow the ballast to be secured and the servos to be pre-assembled outside the hull before installation. The ballast is filled with lead shot and sealed (the achievable weight is approximately 250–270 g). The small ballast cap is used to secure the screw and must then be glued in place. The sail control line (shown in one of the illustrations) also runs entirely inside the hull and exits through the upper opening. It is advisable to insert a small tube through this opening, with an outer diameter of 4 mm and an inner diameter of 2 mm. A Rilsan pneumatic tube is suitable for this purpose. I used two 9g micro servos with metal gears.
