Descripción
The Hand Crank Driver Module is part of Mechlets, a modular system of mechanical machines that connect together and transfer motion from one module to the next. Unlike most Mechlets, this module is a driver rather than an add-on mechanism. Turn the hand crank and it supplies continuous rotary motion to any connected Mechlet, giving you a direct and intuitive way to power gears, chains, planetary systems, linkages and other modules. The crank is geared into the standard Mechlets drive interface, so turning the handle sends motion directly into the connected module. Part of the Mechlets System The Hand Crank Driver provides the input motion for other Mechlets. Connect it to another module and simply turn the handle to bring the mechanism to life. It can be used by itself with a single module or as the starting point for a larger chain of connected Mechlets. If this is your first Mechlet, visit the original Mechlets collection to find: Additional mechanical modules Splitters and connecting modules Other driver options, including the Thumb Slider and Thumb Scroller All Mechlets share the same mechanical connection, so modules can be combined, rearranged and driven together. How the Hand Crank Works Rotating the handle turns a shaft inside the driver housing. A right-angle gear set redirects that rotation into the Mechlets drive axis and transfers it to the output gear. This provides a simple example of how rotary motion can be: Generated manually with a crank Redirected through a gear train Transmitted at a 90-degree angle Passed into another mechanical module Because the gearbox is partially open, you can watch the gears turn as you operate the crank. A Different Way to Drive Mechlets The Hand Crank Driver gives the system a different feel from the slider-based drivers. Instead of moving a control back and forth, you can provide continuous rotation simply by turning the handle. That makes it especially useful for modules that are fun to watch through repeated cycles, such as: Chain drives Planetary gears Spherical gears Nautilus gears Mechanical waves Other continuously rotating mechanisms You can also reverse the direction of the connected mechanism simply by turning the crank the opposite way. Fully 3D Printed The Hand Crank Driver is designed around printed mechanical parts and snap-fit assembly: Printed hand crank and handle Visible internal gear mechanism Right-angle motion transfer Standard Mechlets output connection Snap-fit retaining components No screws No glue No bearings, motors or electronics The included assembly guide walks through gear placement, crank installation, retaining components and testing. Note: After assembly, rotate the crank continuously for a minute or two. This short break-in period helps smooth out minor print roughness and allows the gear teeth to seat and mesh more smoothly with each other.
