Stackable Bottle Rack – SodaStream, Wine & More A modular, stackable bottle rack designed to store bottles horizontally while making better use of vertical space. This project originally started as a simple solution to my SodaStream bottles taking up a large amount of space when lying loose on a refrigerator shelf. Rather than having bottles rolling around or occupying the full depth of the shelf, this rack keeps them neatly organised and allows additional modules to be stacked vertically to create multiple tiers. Although it was originally designed around SodaStream bottles, the approximately 90 mm bottle diameter capacity also makes it suitable for a variety of other bottles, including wine and other beverage bottles. 🥤 Originally designed for SodaStream The rack was originally designed around SodaStream bottles, which are stored horizontally in my fridge. Instead of having multiple bottles scattered across the shelf, the rack keeps them: Neatly organised Securely contained Easy to access Stored horizontally Stacked vertically to make better use of available fridge space 🧩 Modular locking system The main feature of the design is the integrated stacking and locking mechanism. Each rack can be used on its own, or additional racks can be added to create more storage. To add another tier, simply slide the base of the second rack into the locking features on top of the first rack. The modules then lock together to form a secure second tier. Additional modules can be added to create a third tier and beyond, allowing you to build the rack to suit the available space. This allows you to build the rack to the height that suits your available space. No screws, brackets or separate hardware are required to stack the modules. This makes it easy to configure the rack for: Refrigerators Pantries Kitchen benches Cupboards Bar or drinks areas 📏 Two rack lengths included I have provided two versions of the rack to suit different applications. 180 mm version – Recommended for normal use The 180 mm long version includes a rear backing wall and is the recommended version for most applications. The rear wall helps keep the bottle contained within the rack and provides a more conventional bottle-rack design. For normal use, print the 180 mm version with the rear wall. 150 mm version – Specialised open-back design The 150 mm version is shorter and does not have a rear backing wall. This version was specifically designed for my own refrigerator because of the unique design of the shelving in my fridge. The open back allows the bottles to protrude through the rear of the rack and take advantage of the available space behind the shelf. This is a specialised version intended for situations where the shelving or surrounding space makes an open-back design useful. The model profile includes a photo showing this application. If you do not have a similar shelving arrangement, I recommend using the 180 mm version. 📏 Dimensions Both versions have the same 96 × 96 mm cross-section and accommodate bottles up to approximately 90 mm in diameter. The two versions differ only in their overall length and rear configuration: 180 mm version Width: 96 mm Height: 96 mm Length: 180 mm Bottle diameter: up to approximately 90 mm Rear: Backing wall included Designed as the more general-purpose version 150 mm version Width: 96 mm Height: 96 mm Length: 150 mm Bottle diameter: up to approximately 90 mm Rear: Open Designed specifically around my refrigerator's unique shelving configuration 📚 Stacked height The interlocking design allows each additional rack to slide into and lock with the rack below, reducing the overall height compared with simply placing separate racks on top of one another. The first tier is 96 mm high, with each additional tier adding approximately 90 mm. This gives an estimated stacked height of: TiersOverall height196 mm2186 mm3276 mm4366 mm5456 mm6546 mmFormula: Overall height = 96 + (number of tiers − 1) × 90 mm The 2-tier height of 186 mm has been physically measured. Heights for 3 or more tiers are calculated assuming the same 6 mm interlocking overlap is maintained between each additional tier. Please allow some additional clearance above the rack when checking the available space in your refrigerator, cupboard or other installation area. 🍷 Not just for SodaStream Although SodaStream bottles were the original inspiration, the rack accommodates bottles up to approximately 90 mm in diameter, making it useful for a range of other bottles. Potential uses include: SodaStream bottles Wine bottles Sparkling wine bottles Water bottles Juice bottles Soft-drink bottles Other bottles up to approximately 90 mm diameter The rack stores the bottles horizontally, while the modular design allows the racks themselves to be stacked vertically. Please measure the widest part of your bottle to check compatibility, as bottle dimensions can vary even between bottles of the same capacity. 💎 Large Diamond Design & Gyroid Infill The large diamond openings give the rack a distinctive appearance while reducing the amount of material compared with a solid structure. The rack is also printed with a gyroid infill pattern, which provides an interesting internal structure while maintaining a relatively lightweight design. ✨ Try translucent filament One of the interesting visual possibilities of this design is printing it with translucent filament. Because of the open diamond structure, translucent filament allows the gyroid infill pattern to remain visible through the walls, creating a distinctive layered effect. Rather than the infill simply being hidden inside the print, it becomes part of the visual design and can give the finished rack a surprisingly pleasing aesthetic appearance. I have included photos of the rack printed in clear translucent PETG to demonstrate this effect. If you have translucent filament available, it is definitely worth trying — the gyroid pattern becomes part of the appearance of the finished rack rather than something hidden inside the print. 🖨️ Printing The supplied 3MF print profile is configured for straightforward printing: 0.4 mm nozzle 0.20 mm layer height 2 wall loops 15% gyroid infill No supports required Each rack is designed to print as a single module. PETG is a good choice for heavier bottles or applications where the rack may experience higher loads. PLA can also be used for general indoor applications. 💡 Start with one and expand later One of the advantages of the modular design is that you don't need to decide how many tiers you need upfront. Start with a single rack and add more modules later as your storage requirements change. The integrated sliding lock makes it easy to expand the system vertically without needing additional hardware. From a SodaStream problem to a modular bottle rack I originally designed this because my SodaStream bottles were taking up too much space in my fridge. The result is a modular storage system that can be adapted to many different bottles and storage situations — one module at a time.
