Descripción

The Mechanical Wave Module is part of Mechlets, a modular system of mechanical machines that connect together and transfer motion from one module to the next.   This module turns continuous gear rotation into a traveling mechanical wave. Four paddles rock from side to side with slightly different timing, so the movement appears to travel across the module. Reverse the input direction and the wave reverses with it. Inside, a series of gears and offset cams drives each paddle in sequence. The open construction keeps the mechanism visible, making it easy to see how simple rotary motion can be transformed into coordinated movement. Part of the Mechlets System The Mechanical Wave is an add-on module and needs a Mechlets input/driver to set it in motion. If this is your first Mechlet, visit the original Mechlets collection to download a: Thumb Slider or Thumb Scroller drive module Additional mechanical modules Splitters and connecting modules for building larger arrangements All Mechlets share the same mechanical connection, so modules can be combined, rearranged and driven together. Motion can enter the Mechanical Wave from one side and continue through its output to another Mechlet. How the Wave Works Four geared cams are phased differently from one another. As the gears rotate, each cam moves its paddle back and forth at a different point in the cycle. The result is a repeating sequence: rock → follow → follow → follow → repeat Rather than hiding the mechanism, Mechlets puts the gears and linkages on display so you can watch the motion propagate through the machine. Fully 3D Printed The Mechanical Wave is designed around printed mechanical parts and snap-fit assembly: 26 printed pieces Four moving paddles Visible gear and cam mechanism Snap-fit retaining clips No screws No glue No bearings, motors or electronics The included assembly guide walks through gear order, cam timing, paddle installation and testing.
