A few people have been looking for a DIY top strap for their Steam Frame as Valve's Ergonomic Kit is pricey and sold out in a lot of places, but the top strap makes a difference to comfort so I've made a DIY version. I have the Ergonomic kit and this feels very similar while wearing. Features Two small printed parts plus standard 25 mm (1") webbing Adjustable: both clips have backpack-style slide buckles, so you can change the length easily and it won't slip while you're playing Clips into the headset's own front mount point and the rear battery. No tools, or glue needed. Wire clip version for those who want something stronger - includes a jig to help bend a paperclip or similar gauge wire. Use the wire front clip to slot it into. What you need The 2 printed parts, about 10 g of PLA or PETG. 25 mm / 1" nylon webbing. Easy to find on Amazon, AliExpress, or at any craft shop. Printing Print the parts in the orientation they're in in the file. If using the plastic front clip the hook is only strong enough when the layers run the right way. If you rotate it, it may snap. Print orientations are already set up correctly. PLA is fine, PETG would probably be better long term. 0.2 mm layers, no supports needed, although there is some bridging which wasn't a problem for me. Assembly Wire Version only - bend a paperclip or similar wire using the jig and slot it into the front clip. Cut the webbing to length and melt the cut ends with a lighter so they don't fray. Thread one end through the front clip's slide buckle. Hook the front clip onto the mount behind the padding on the headset, just above the IPD lock. It's a tight fit, but you should feel it click into place. Slide the battery clip over the rear battery pack. Thread the other end through the battery clip's buckle, put the headset on, and adjust until the battery hangs at the right height. Designed in Onshape. STEP files included, and remixes are welcome. Fan-made accessory, not affiliated with or endorsed by Valve.
