Descripción

Mechlets is a modular system of small mechanical machines that connect and transfer motion from one module to the next. Start with an input module, attach another, and watch your movement travel through visible gears and mechanisms. Mix, match, and rearrange modules to create your own combinations of spinning, sliding, orbiting, reciprocating, and stop-and-start motion.   Choose a thumb slider or thumb scroller as your input, then connect modules to explore different mechanical principles: Planet Module: Set the Sun, Earth, and Moon display in motion. Piston Module: See rotary motion converted into back-and-forth piston movement. Moiré Module: Create changing optical patterns using overlapping screens. Stop-Motion Module: Explore the distinctive step-and-pause movement of a Geneva mechanism. Half Module: Transfer motion through a compact module with a fully visible gear train. T-Splitter: Divide the mechanical drive and send motion into two branches at once. All Mechlets use a shared mechanical connection, so you can start with just a few pieces and expand or rearrange the system as you build more modules. Open gear windows make the movement easy to see and help show how each mechanism works. Everything is designed around 3D-printed mechanical parts and snap-fit assembly—no motors, electronics, bearings, screws, or other metal hardware are required.   Assembly instructions are included, and every currently released module has been printed, assembled, and tested. Build a machine. Connect another. See where the motion goes.   Update: Oct 1st, 2026 - Created a wave module for the Mechlet system.
