Automatic Exhaust Vent — Print in Place   A compact exhaust vent with four moving louvers that open automatically with outgoing airflow and close when the airflow stops. Designed in Fusion 360 and printed in ASA, the frame and moving louvers print together in one piece, with no supports required. Important: Installation Location This vent is designed for the outdoor outlet of an exhaust ducting system, where air exits the building. It is not intended to mount directly onto the back of the printer. Install it at the exterior end of the duct, with the louvers facing outdoors so they open outward as exhaust air passes through.   Features   Automatic operation: airflow opens the louvers without motors or electronics. Print in place: the moving mechanism prints together with the frame. No supports: no support material to remove from the mechanism. Approximately 2-hour print: actual time depends on your printer and settings. 4-inch duct setup: designed for use with the H2 series duct system. Four moving louvers: designed to open easily under outgoing airflow. Backdraft and rain protection: overlapping closed louvers block most of incoming air and rain. M3 mounting nut recesses: built into the four corners of the frame.   Printing and Installation   Layer Height: 0.16mm is preferred 3 Walls, 15% Rectillinear infill The pictured model was printed in ASA. However, you can print it with PETG, ABS, or any other functional material. ( PLA is not recommended ). Use the supplied print orientation, settings, and keep supports disabled. After printing, gently check that each louver moves freely before installation. Install with the louvers arranged horizontally, in the orientation shown in the photos, so they can close under their own weight. Keep their movement clear of the duct and mounting hardware.   Note: Fuzzy skin is enabled by default for aesthetics, if needed you can disable it, which might save some time.   The M3 nuts are separate mounting hardware; they are not required to assemble the printed louver mechanism. Compatibility   Designed for a 4-inch duct setup. Check the mounting interface against your duct adapter before printing. This model is one of a family of different duct models, and it will be compatible with different duct adapters that I will publish soon. Mounting on a Wall, Window, or Panel   You can mount the vent on a wall, window panel, or sheet of acrylic or wood. This requires one large circular opening for airflow and four mounting holes.   Provided in the "Documintation" below is a PDF mounting template showing the rear view and hole positions to help you mark the cutout accurately. Print it at 100% / Actual Size, with “Fit to Page” disabled, and verify the dimensions before drilling or cutting, and in case you're mounting it on a wooden/acrylic/metal sheet that can be cut using laser/cnc, then you can use the same file provided to directly cut the shape onto the sheet.   Share Your Print   If you print it, share a photo and let me know how it works with your setup.
