Custom-Fit TPU Dog Boot

A protective boot for walks on rough, hot, cold or salted ground, printed in one piece from TPU 95A. There's no sewing, no glue, no supports, and nothing to assemble except threading a strap. It's fully parametric: enter your dog's measurements and the whole boot resizes, from toy breeds to giant dogs.   Features Fits your dog. Six measurements drive the whole boot: the toe box, the ankle tube, the height of the strap above the dewclaw, and the V-opening. Easy on, easy off. A rear V-opening spreads wide for the paw. A print-in-place inner tongue covers the gap once the strap is tightened. Room for the toes. A squared-off toe box lets the toes spread naturally instead of jamming into a point. Claw guard. A thicker toe cap stops claws from wearing through. Padded sole with tread. A cushioned sole with a siped tread and two flex grooves at the toe line. Reinforced roof. A double-thickness top over the toes, shaped to print cleanly without supports. Strap keepers on both sides for a standard strap (3/4" by default), placed above the dewclaw. Water resistant, not waterproof. The boot is sealed up to roughly a quarter of the boot height, so wet grass and splashes are fine. Deeper puddles will reach the paw through the rear opening. Measure your dog Use the measuring guide image. Measure a front paw with your dog standing, with weight on the paw, in millimetres. Trace around the paw on paper while the dog stands, then measure A and B from the tracing. Don't add your own extra room: the model already adds clearance. Every tested size rebuilt cleanly, printed without supports (layer-by-layer check), and left 5–8 mm of room in front of the toes. Rules of thumb: E must be above F (the dewclaw sits above the toes on every dog). The strap band starts 6 mm above E. If you choose snug on fitClearance and toeRoomExtra together, re-check that the boot is long enough. The biggest sizes (paw length over ~115 mm) produce a boot about 190 × 130 × 165 mm, which needs a large build plate.   Strap: buy one or print ours The boot needs a strap through the two side keepers. The keeper tunnels are sized for your chosen strapWidth plus 2 mm (22 × 4 mm by default). A 1" (25 mm) strap will NOT fit the default 20 mm keepers. Set strapWidth to 25 if you want to use 1" straps. Recommended (easiest and strongest): Side-release buckle + webbing in your strap width (e.g. a buckle-and-webbing kit). Thread the webbing through both keepers first, then attach the buckle; a tri-glide locks the fixed end, no sewing needed. Put the buckle on the outside of the leg. Daily use: clip, pull the tail snug, squeeze to release. Or double-sided hook-and-loop (hook on one face, loop on the other, e.g. ONE-WRAP). Face the hook side toward the boot, wrap it all the way around, and overlap the end on the front. Don't fold it back through a buckle: double-sided tape only grips when wrapped. Length: about one full wrap plus 7–10 cm. For the default boot that's 25 cm. Seal cut ends with a lighter. Included, if you want an all-printed option: Printed TPU strap + locking sleeve. It resizes with the boot. Two rounded pegs drop into a row of slots (7 settings in 6 mm steps), and a sliding sleeve locks them. It works, but it's slower to put on than a buckle. The strap is long (259 mm for the default size), so print it diagonally; on the biggest sizes it may not fit your plate, and a bought strap is the better choice. Printing Material: TPU 95A. A direct-drive extruder is strongly recommended. Supports: OFF. The boot is designed to print without them, and auto-supports would fill the toe box. Orientation: sole down, heel toward the back of the plate. Layers: 0.2 mm, with 0.12 mm over the toe-box roof: add a height-range modifier from about 25% to 60% of the boot's height. The included print profiles already have it (Small 24–60 mm, Medium 26–66 mm, Large 30–72 mm). Walls: 4 walls, inner/outer/inner order, 30% gyroid infill. Temperature: 230 °C nozzle, 35 °C textured PEI bed, cooling fan 100%. Flow: for generic TPU 95A, cap max volumetric speed at about 3.2 mm³/s (~35–40 mm/s). High-flow TPU can run faster; slow down if the roof over the toes comes out stringy. Weight and time: 81–130 g and 6.5–10 h per boot depending on size (see the size table). High-flow TPU roughly halves the time. The printed strap and sleeve take about 15–17 g and 1 h 10 min. Dry your TPU if it's been open for a while. Wet TPU strings badly, especially on the roof.   Fitting and safety Slide the paw in with the V-opening spread. Make sure the tongue sits flat inside the opening, then tighten the strap snug but not tight. You should be able to slip a finger under it. Check the paw after the first 10–15 minutes for rubbing or red spots, especially at the back of the leg along the edges of the opening and around the dewclaw. Build up wear time gradually. Don't leave boots on an unattended dog. Take the boots off if water gets inside, and dry the boot and the paw. Not a medical device. Ask your vet before using boots on an injured paw. Care Rinse with warm water and mild soap and air dry. Don't put it in a dryer or leave it in a hot car.
