Descripción
TwistCore — 48-Piece Sliding Fidget Ball This is the 48-piece version of my sliding fidget ball design. It is a print-in-place mechanical fidget made from 48 interlocking segments arranged around a sphere. Each segment is captured by neighboring geometry while still being able to slide through the surrounding channel. The result is a ball that can expand, shift, and move in your hands while remaining assembled. This 48-piece version was designed natively in Fusion 360 and physically printed and tested on a Bambu Lab A1. Print setup used 0.4 mm nozzle 0.20 mm layer height Arachne wall generator Brim enabled No supports Printed in PLA+ My tested profile used approximately 189 g of filament and took about 14.5 hours on the Bambu Lab A1. After printing The segments are printed very close together by design. Carefully work around the ball and begin separating the individual sections. Some pieces may require light flexing or tapping before the entire mechanism loosens. Do not force one section excessively. Work gradually around the ball until all 48 segments are moving. Design details 48 independently modeled segments 7.5° spacing between segments Print-in-place construction No assembly hardware Designed around controlled internal clearances Tested as a complete physical print This is part of my ongoing TwistCore project, where I am experimenting with different piece counts and customizable versions of the same mechanical concept. More customization options are planned in future updates. If you print one, I’d love to see your result and hear how the movement feels on your printer.
