MediDock — A Weekly Pill Organizer Designed Around a Simple Mistake If you print MediDock and feel that it genuinely deserves it, please consider giving the project a Boost. Boosts can now be given even without printing a model first, which makes them easier to use — but also easier to spend simply on something that looks attractive at first glance. I would personally encourage you to save your Boosts for projects you have actually printed, tested and found genuinely useful or well designed. There are many visually striking models out there, including AI-generated concepts, that may look impressive but have never really been tested as functional objects. Sometimes a product starts with a very simple problem. This one started after an elderly family member accidentally dropped his pill container. His morning and evening medication became mixed up, and he mistakenly took the wrong medication at the wrong time. What looked like a small accident quickly became a serious situation. That experience made me think about something that many pill organizers take for granted: morning and evening medication is often stored very close together. So I designed MediDock differently. Two stations, two moments of the day MediDock can be used as two completely separate weekly stations: Morning and Night They can even be placed in different locations around the bedroom or home, creating a clear physical separation between the two routines. Each station contains seven removable daily drawers, one for each day of the week. Every drawer includes two generously sized compartments, allowing two groups of tablets or capsules to be kept separate when needed. Simply remove the drawer for that day, take it with you if necessary, use it throughout the day, and return it when finished. More than a small pill box MediDock was not designed around using the minimum possible amount of filament. The intention was to create a proper object for the home. Something that can remain permanently on a bedside table, shelf or cabinet without looking like disposable medical packaging. It can also make a thoughtful and practical gift for a parent, grandparent or anyone who regularly needs to organize medication. Designed to be easier to handle One important detail of MediDock is its size. The daily drawers and compartments are intentionally larger than those found in many compact pill organizers. This was a deliberate ergonomic choice. Very small containers, tight lids and tiny openings can be difficult to handle, especially for people with reduced hand mobility or limited manual dexterity. MediDock was therefore designed with larger, easier-to-grip parts and generous compartment dimensions, helping make everyday handling simpler and more comfortable. So, the larger size is not accidental — it is part of the design.   Print only what you need The complete weekly station is only one possible configuration. You can print: a complete Morning station; a complete Night station; a station with no Morning/Night marking; or simply one of the removable daily drawers. So, if all you need is a compact pill box for a single day, there is no need to print the complete system.   Optional premium finishes The standard version can be produced entirely using conventional 3D-printing equipment. However, I also wanted to explore what could be achieved with hybrid fabrication tools. The front panels can optionally be made from materials such as laser-cut and engraved wood or acrylic. For acrylic fronts, lettering or graphics can also be produced using cut vinyl and applied to the surface. These elements are completely optional. You do not need a laser cutter or cutting plotter to build MediDock. They simply provide another way to customize the organizer and give it a more refined, furniture-like appearance. Profile available hereNon-slip base options The bottom surface was also designed with different fabrication methods in mind. The version shown uses EVA foam, providing a soft, non-slip base. Cork can also be used. And for anyone working exclusively with a 3D printer, a TPU base is included in the print profiles. The bottom was weighted for added stability. In my case, I used some depleted batteries, but you can use other heavy discarded items as ballast. I know batteries aren’t the safest thing to mix with medicine… but this compartment is completely isolated from the rest.Designed to be adapted Different homes, routines and people need different solutions. That is why MediDock includes several configurations instead of forcing everyone to use the complete system. Print the full seven-day organizer. Print separate Morning and Night stations. Print a neutral version. Or print just one daily drawer. MediDock is ultimately about making a very ordinary daily routine clearer, more organized and, hopefully, a little safer.
