Wastl – Shrunken Head | Halloween 3D Print

Meet Wastl, the latest character in my Shrunken Head Series – a slightly absurd Halloween decoration with a story of its own. Wastl was a legendary craftsman from the mountain region below the Bavarian Alps. One day, he set out in search of the almost mythical Japanese cherry oaks. Somehow, his journey led him all the way into the jungles of Bolivia – where he disappeared without a trace. Years later, his shrunken head was supposedly discovered hanging from one of those legendary trees. And judging by the crushed tube of super glue still stuck in his mouth, Wastl apparently kept crafting until the very end. The model combines the typical style of my Shrunken Head collection with lots of small details: a large beard, exaggerated facial features, closed eyes, stitched areas, a rope loop for hanging, skull ornaments, a brush and of course the squeezed super-glue tube. The character is designed specifically with 3D printing in mind. Hair, beard and smaller details are intentionally sculpted in thicker, solid shapes instead of fine individual strands.   The included 3MF file already contains prepared print settings, while the individual STL files give you more freedom to arrange, scale or print the individual parts separately. Painting For painting, I recommend: black primer a light gray zenithal dusting acrylic paints washes for deeper shadows satin clear coat for the final finish I personally do not recommend heavy filler primer, because many of the small sculpted details can easily get lost. Wastl is meant to be creepy, weird and funny at the same time – exactly the kind of decoration that looks completely out of place until Halloween arrives.
