Tirtouga#564: "Restored from a fossil, this Pokémon can dive to depths beyond half a mile." ~Black Version Pokedex entry When your team found the complete Tyrantrum skeleton, funding for new dig sites started to flood in! This enabled your team to expand their search to the Unova region. Your team decided to set up sites at the Desert Resort, a sprawling arid area containing the ruins of Relic Castle. Legend has it that 2500 years ago the castle was built by the King of Unova. Millions of years before that though, the area was a deep ocean. Shifting tectonic plates over the millennia have brought the seafloor to the surface, and along with it a rare opportunity to find aquatic fossils! The dig site is a little more hazardous than the others, you and your team are constantly dodging bites from Sandile, pinches from dwebble, and avoiding the flailing spikes of Maractus. The extra precautions are well worth it. You find multiple cover fossils, and are soon able to reconstruct complete skeletons of Tirtouga. Tirtouga, the proto-turtle pokemon is thought to be the ancient ancestor of all turtle pokemon. Cover fossils found in other places in Unova suggest that they lived at sea but hunted on land and may be one the first aquatic species to adapt to life on land. Squirtle, Turtwig, and Turtonator may not exist if Tirtouga never bravely ventured onto land. My Tirtouga fossil puzzle is the next entry in my pokemon fossil puzzle series. This relatively simple puzzle is just 12 pieces(less than 50g!), held together by tight tolerances. As always, I've included a kit card version, spare parts version, and assembly instructions.
