Erzbergschnecke – Miner Snail Wall Trophy

The Erzbergschnecke is part of my The Unusual Trophy Collection – a series of unusual wall trophies created for everyone who likes the classic look of hunting plaques, but prefers strange, funny and completely fictional creatures instead of deer or other traditional animals. This little miner snail is a fictional creature from the mountains, spending its life deep inside the rock and working its way through the ore. The design combines a traditional trophy plaque with a playful fantasy character and is especially made for creative makers who enjoy printing, assembling and painting their own decorative pieces. This is not meant to be a simple “print it and put it on the shelf” model. The Erzbergschnecke was designed as a creative painting and decoration project, with lots of surfaces, textures and details that can be highlighted through weathering, drybrushing and individual color choices.   Model options The model can be printed in different ways. The included 3MF file contains both the complete snail and the separated version consisting of five parts. This gives you the freedom to decide whether you prefer printing the model mostly in one piece or assembling it from several individual parts. Some parts have to be glued after printing. Recommended print settings Material: PLA recommended PETG should also work Layer height: 0.16 mm Tree Support: strongly recommended Approximate print time: around 12 hours Skill level: Advanced A1 Mini: not recommended For my own print I use PLA X Artist Grey from Nobufil because a neutral grey filament is a very good base for priming and painting. Dimensions The wooden-style trophy plaque measures approximately: 23 × 17 cm The finished model extends approximately: 15 cm from the wall The back of the plaque includes a dedicated mounting point, so the finished trophy can be hung directly on the wall after printing, assembling and painting. Painting The Erzbergschnecke was created specifically with painting in mind. I deliberately leave the final look completely open, so every maker can create their own version.
