Remove supports carefully Choose mounting hardware appropriate for your wall. For drywall, use properly rated anchors rather than driving screws into unsupported drywall alone. Load it gradually. Start with lightweight display pieces and verify the installation before adding additional weight. For an especially dramatic installation, place it where directional lighting can create a long shadow from the fingers onto the wall. I wanted the support underneath this shelf to be the part you actually came over to look at. Instead of hiding the bracket,the hand, the stretched geometry, the openings, and even the shadows become part of the piece. The Reach Shelf is useful wall space, but it is also supposed to feel just a little impossible.
