Modular Geometric Display Shelf with Dovetail Assembly A statement shelf that’s a little different from the usual floating wall shelf. Cascade Slat combines staggered vertical panels with three floating shelves to create a modern architectural display piece that works just as well as wall art as it does functional storage.   I designed the system around sliding dovetail connections, so the shelves slot directly into the vertical panels without needing a complicated assembly process. Each panel and shelf is also numbered from top to bottom, making it much easier to put everything together once your print is finished.   Yes, this one is a long print, but I promise the finished result is worth it! ❤️ Dimensions & Construction The full-size version contains 7 vertical panels and 3 shelves, arranged across two build plates. Vertical Panels 226mm tall 30mm wide 15mm thick Panels staggered approximately 10mm apart Integrated dovetail slots for shelf installation Overall the shelf stands 405.5 mm Tall & 270mm Wide   Shelves 238mm wide 100mm deep 9.8mm thick Standard dovetail connection slides directly into the panels The staggered panel design creates the cascading geometric look while also giving the shelves a strong structural backbone. 🔩 Mounting Options I have incorporated 6mm filleted screw holes into: Panel 1, underneath the top shelf Panel 6, underneath the bottom shelf These provide additional mounting stability without putting visible screw holes through the main face of the design. I recommend using at least: M6 × 20mm screws You may need suitable wall plugs or anchors depending on the type of wall you're mounting it to. A screw-mounting version will also be uploaded separately. The shelf shown in the photos was mounted using 3M mounting tape. This is another option if you don't want to drill into the wall, however I recommend using plenty of high-strength tape and keeping the displayed items lightweight. For heavier objects, mechanical mounting with appropriate wall fixings is the safer option. Want to Make It Bigger? I've included the .STEP files so you can customise the design yourself. You can create additional panels, extend the cascading pattern, alter the shelf arrangement or turn it into a much larger feature wall. I'd actually love to see someone take this design and make an enormous version of it! Thinner / Faster Print Version Included I've also uploaded a thinner version for anyone wanting to reduce filament usage and printing time. Because both the panels and shelves are thinner, I recommend using that version mainly for: Small plants Photo frames Collectibles Lightweight decor Miniatures Display pieces I wouldn't recommend placing particularly heavy items on the thinner version, as excessive weight may eventually deform or damage the printed shelves. Designed for Easy Assembly The complete design uses simple printed components combined with dovetail assembly, making it easy to print each section separately and assemble everything afterwards.   The numbering system also means you won't have to stare at seven nearly identical panels after printing wondering: "...which one goes where?" 😅   Print it, slide everything together, mount it and you've got a genuinely unique piece of functional wall art.
