Ultimate Tread Clicker Fidget (Print in Place)

This tread clicker fidget takes the satisfying roll of a tank track and adds a built-in click to every rotation. One of the two hubs is fitted with a flexible spring that rides along the grooves cut into the wheel, bending out of place as the tread rolls and snapping into the next groove for a crisp click with every cycle. The spring tension and groove spacing were carefully tuned through several rounds of prototyping to get a click that's consistent without adding too much resistance to the roll. Since it's entirely print-in-place, it comes off the build plate fully assembled and ready to roll, no supports or post-processing needed. The tank-tread-inspired links and recessed hub caps give it a rugged, mechanical look while providing plenty of grip and texture to keep your fingers engaged as you cycle the tread around, and the added spring assembly gives the roll a touch more resistance than my original tread roller.
