A fully 3D-printed dial caliper that reads to 0.1 mm - now with inside jaws and a depth probe. Version 4.0 is the release the v3 comments asked for. The inside jaws are back for bores and internal diameters, and a depth probe has been added, so all three measurements you actually reach for a caliper to make are covered. What changed since v3.0 Inside jaws for internal measurement Depth probe for depth measurement Easier assembly - the parts go together with less force and less risk of breaking the small gear Smoother travel, less friction in the rack and pinion Higher accuracy, and a stiffer, more torsionally rigid frame No screws, no glue, no springs, no metal parts. Every part on the plate is printed. The screw holes are still there. Three BT2x8 self-tapping screws will lock the dial cover down a little more firmly if you want them, but the caliper is designed to work without any. PLA-CF profile included. Carbon-filled PLA is noticeably stiffer in torsion, and on this design that stiffness goes straight into a steadier, more repeatable reading. If you have it, print the caliper in PLA-CF. Prints on every Bambu Lab printer, the A1 mini included. If the caliper turns out useful, the parts list on this page is the simplest way to support the work. Ordering filament through it costs you nothing extra and sends a small commission my way. Printing notes Use a smooth plate. A textured plate presses its pattern into the sliding surfaces and adds friction. Take the supports off the small gear carefully. Leftover support material is the most common cause of a stiff dial. Download the 3MF rather than the STLs. The engraved scale numbering is part of the project file. Boost it and tell me what you want to see in v5.
