DISCLAIMER: Night Falls is still in playtest This game is a full scale tabletop campaign and has taken months of development and CAD production. I've been working relentlessly to be able to get this submitted for the Playgrid Games contest and put forth a lot of effort to get this entered and did not want to miss out on the contest. the STL files should not have to change very much if at all, the rules guide may need changes the further into testing that i get. i did make some minor changes already before this initial post to the rules, and the rules guide i have posted is the latest to date. I will make edits to this post here on top whenever any further changes are made. thanks for your understanding. If you have real interest in printing this game give me a follow to stay updated. I will make community posts notifying of any changes. Welcome to Night Falls The world ended one day at a time. The streets are empty. The stores have been stripped bare. Supplies are running out, and the dead are gathering. You and your fellow Survivors have found a place to hold out—but safety is temporary. Every day, you must venture into the city to find the food, water, medicine, and materials you need to survive. Every resource matters. Every trip outside your Fortress carries risk. Build your defenses. Restore essential Utilities. Strengthen your Fortress. Work together to survive the growing threat. Because when night falls, the Zombies come… …And they don't stop coming. Night Falls is a cooperative tabletop zombie survival game for 1–4 players, where you and your fellow Survivors must work together to survive a 30-day struggle against an ever-growing threat. Scavenge. Build. Defend. Survive. Will your Fortress still be standing when the 30th day arrives? Boost MeThis game has taken a lot of time and development to make it to your table. if you enjoy the game please consider a boost for the work i put into it!How Night Falls Plays please read the attached game rules manual PDF to learn the full rules of the game. Here i will outline the basics, but Night Falls is a FULL SCALE tabletop game with a 30 plus page rules guide to help guide you through all the game mechanics. Each player controls a Survivor working with the others to keep their Fortress supplied, defended, and operational through a 30-day struggle for survival. Each turn represents one day on the calendar, tracked with an individual personal calendar board that records timed injures, and utility production, along with scheduled horde event nights. Turn progression is Morning > Afternoon > Night. Morning starts with advancing the Calendar, resolving any timed events, and consuming food and water for status tracker maintenance. Out of food? Your survivor starts to starve and increase your Hunger Tracker. Water? you begin to become dehydrated, increase your Dehydration Tracker. if your hunger or dehydration trackers ever reach a level 10, YOU AND ALL SURVIVORS LOSE THE GAME. The Afternoon phase begins individual turns. Each player has 5 Action Points per turn to: MOVE throughout the city, SCAVENGE abandoned stores, hospital, grocery stores, homes and apartments for valuable consumables, construction, and combat resources. BUILD utilities (like a garden, water collector, medical station and armory to name a few), barricades help protect your fortress from attack, TRADE with teammates to help each other survive along the way. CONSUME food water and medicine to improve your status trackers and prevent losing the game. CRAFT Combat readiness tokens to improve your Combat die odds when fighting zombies, or bite block tokens to give you a second chance in combat. USE UTILITIES, harvest your garden for food, collect rain water for hydration, apply medicine to injury, use the armory to craft combat tokens, the watchtower helps protect your fortress from a range. and much more, each fortress can hold 4 unique utilities, so choose which utilities you build use wisely. The last part of a calendar day is when NIGHT FALLS. Night time is when the zombies come out to play, using a unique zombie AI system, you begin the night by spawning 1 new zombie to each zombie spawn point on the map. There is one per the 4 districts. next spin the zombie directional spinner to determine which way the horde will move that night. Roll the D12 to determine how far to move each one and make the moves. if your player is stuck in the streets at night, you can become detected, zombies that detect you will stay engaged for the remainder of the night phase and attack. A Zombie bite inflicts +1 damage to your Infection tracker. Resolve movements and both Zombie engagement to end the calendar day. Once the night phase ends, you advance the personal calendar and begin the turn progression for the next calendar day. Scavenge the City During the day, Survivors venture into the city to search abandoned locations for the resources they need to survive. Food and Water keep Survivors going, Medicine helps them recover, and Construction and Combat resources allow the group to build, improve, and defend their Fortress. But supplies are limited. Searching one location can make it harder for the next Survivor to find something useful, and every trip into the city carries the risk of encountering Zombies. Scavenging is never guaranteed. Survivors draw randomly from Resource Bins, where Blank Tokens dilute the Consumables and Combat supplies. Blank Tokens provide no resource and are immediately returned to the bin, while actual resources leave the supply. As locations are searched, the city becomes progressively picked clean. Every search is a gamble. You might find exactly what you need—or almost nothing at all. Build Your Fortress Resources brought home can be used to transform a vulnerable house into a defensible Fortress. Construct and upgrade Utilities that help sustain your Survivors, build barricades to keep Zombies out, and prepare your defenses before the next night arrives. Every resource spent on one improvement is a resource that can't be spent somewhere else. Fight the Dead Combat in Night Falls isn't simply a matter of rolling a traditional attack die and hoping for the best. Survivors use a Combat Die with interchangeable faces, allowing the odds of successfully killing Zombies to change throughout the game. Prepare your combat dice carefully, manage your ammunition, and know when to fight and when to run. The result is a combat system where your preparation can directly affect your chances of survival Survive the Horde Nights The normal nights are dangerous, but two nights during the 30-day struggle are different. At Day 15 and Day 23, the Survivors face Horde Events. These are major events that affect the entire game and represent the growing Zombie threat reaching a critical point. The Horde Events force players to confront the consequences of how well—or how poorly—they have prepared their Fortress and managed their resources. The first Horde Night is a warning. The second is the final test. Work Together or Fall Apart Every Survivor contributes to the group's survival. Players can share resources, assist one another in combat, and work together to decide how the group's limited supplies should be spent. But cooperation doesn't eliminate difficult choices. Do you send someone farther into the city for desperately needed supplies? Do you spend valuable materials strengthening the Fortress or building a Utility you need later? As the days pass, the city becomes increasingly dangerous and the group's resources become increasingly important. Scavenge. Build. Fight. Defend. Survive. Make it through the Horde Nights. Keep the Fortress standing. Survive all 30 days. What Makes Night Falls Different Night Falls combines traditional board-game mechanics with custom 3D-printed components designed specifically for the way the game plays. The Modular Combat Die: The Combat Die uses interchangeable faces that allow the odds of successfully killing a Zombie to change throughout the game. As Survivors prepare for the growing threat, the Combat Die can be configured to represent their current combat readiness. Your chances of survival aren't fixed—they can be prepared for. Personal Calendar Trackers: Each Survivor has a Personal Calendar Tracker, used to manage individual timed effects and conditions throughout the game. These condition trackers work alongside the main 30-day calendar, giving each Survivor their own timeline to manage while the group works toward the same overall objective. Personal Command Boards Every Survivor has their own Command Board that keeps their most important information directly in front of them. The board provides dedicated tracking for things such as Hunger, Dehydration, Infection, and Barricade damage, allowing players to see their current status at a glance, with individual tracker sliders to show how close you are to a loss condition or a destroyed barricade Magnetic Window & Door Barricades: Fortress defenses aren't just represented by markers on a board. Magnetic barricade panels physically attach to the windows and doors of the Fortress. As Zombies damage the defenses, the barricade components can be removed, visually showing the Fortress becoming increasingly vulnerable. When a barricade is destroyed, the physical panel is removed and returned to the barricade reserve. Detailed Utility Structures Utilities aren't generic cardboard markers or simple tokens. Each Utility is represented by its own detailed 3D-printed structure, giving the Fortress a physical sense of progression as Survivors construct and upgrade their base. Generators, gardens, water systems, watchtowers, and other Utilities become physical parts of the Fortress rather than simply being tracked on a player board. A Physical City to Explore: The city itself is built from modular Playgrid-compatible components, creating a physical environment for Survivors to move through, search, and defend against the growing Zombie threat. Each player beings the day by advancing their player calendar to the next day, resolving any timed effects or injuries, followed by consuming food and water to maintain their survivors hunger and dehydration status, then the morning turns to evening. Each player receives 5 Action Points per turn to move, scavenge, build, and trade to name a few. Once each player had taken a separate turn, Night Falls. Night begins with spinning a zombie directional spinner and spawning new zombies throughout the city. the zombies then take turns which involves movement, followed by and engagement/attack phase. night becomes morning and the calendar advances once again. can you make it to 30 days!? Major scavenging locations (Hospital, Supermarket, Hardware Store, and Sporting Goods Store), minor scavenging locations (houses and apartments), roads, landmarks, and Zombie spawn points all become part of the physical game world. Download the Game Rules Manual to learn more! Playing Cards This game uses a “Personal Events” deck of cards, as well as a “Horde Events” deck. the cards can be downloaded using the attached PDF file. using an inkjet or similar (2D) printer print the document using 2 sided printing, flipping along the long edge. Each printer does this processes uniquely weather its automatic or manual, there is a lot of variation from machine to machine and the cards may not come out perfectly aligned, the document is perfectly aligned from front to back so the variation shouldn't be too severe. using card stock is a good option to get a close to authentic game card feel. Cut the cards out on the lines to create you decks. the Personal Events deck contains 35 cards, the Horde Events deck contains 10 cards. I did design the card backs as 3d models but I couldn't figure out an efficient way to attach the paper cards to the plastic card backs. I have posted the card backs as 2 separate STL files on here if you would like to attempt to use the 3d printed card backs. Also Attached is a player reference cards sheet. These cards are for in game reference to turn progression, available player actions, and construction costs for barricades and utilities. these cards are optional but will help for quick in game reference to things otherwise found in the game rules manual. Printing Tips, Suggestions, and Assembly all the models inside the 3MF files i posted contain mostly 1 object of each STL. All the build plates are named and labeled with the parts. BOTH in the plate name and in the Rulebook PDF i have quantities and totals of all the components required for a 4 player game. if you intend on only using 2 player print only 2 of each player components and half the total of Resource coins. reference the Rules book in Section 2: Components for all the official game pieces and quantities. Combat dice when printing the die body please avoid using Matte style filaments. the matte materials wear out way too easily and will not hold up with the continual snapping in and removing the replaceable die faces. the die faces have some fine detail and will look much better with a .2 nozzle. when removing die faces, use the face you want to install as wedge to pry out the face you are trying to replace. press firmly on the center of the face to audibly hear the new die face snap into place. extremely satisfying. Personal Command Boards the tracker sliders have a tight tolerance so they don't just flop around on the track. i printed these with multiple brands and colors and most of them were fine. I did come across one color that was real tight and needed to run an Xacto blade (hobby knife) down the edges of the track to get the slider to slip on without binding, also taking pliers and gripping the tracker slider head to break it in was beneficial. Utility pieces and Player pieces My Intentions when creating Night Falls was to have a highly Thematic and detailed experience. when modeling the player pieces and utilities i needed to keep the scale to the playgrid but i also wanted to capture realistic components to make this game a one of a kind playgrid experience. It is highly recommended when printing the player pieces and utilities to use a .2 nozzle. you will lose A LOT of detail with the .4 nozzle and may actually have print failure. my disclaimer: i did not and have not tried to print these parts in .4 diameter, this is just a warning that the outcomes MAY not be desirable. If your only option is a .4 nozzle please use the minimum .08 layer height to capture as much detail as possible. Fortress and Door/Window Barricade assembly: Player fortresses and window and door barricades attach magnetically to give players the feeling they are boarding up their fortress. Each side of the fortress has a place for the same 5x2mm magnets used in the playgrid system. Please make sure all fortress models have the same polarity compared to all the Window barricades so every barricade can attach to every single fortress so that the polarity doesnt match and become incompaitble across each fortress. Begin by inserting magnets into all fortress models first all in the same direction. if the magnets are too lose you can add a drop of superglue to make sure they stay in place. it helps to hold a stack of magents together and inert them all the same way. moving on to each individual window barricade, FLIP THE STACK OF MAGNETS. inserting them with the oposite polarity facing outward. again apply glue if needed. Make Night Falls your own: Night Falls has A LOT of rule. Please if something feels off or the mechanics need a tweak please feel free to incorporte you own versions to rules or maybe even creat your own to makle the game flow the way you want it to feel If you need clarification to any rules or mechanics feel free to comment or message me on anything you need.
