Soon, he was patrolling the city skies, swinging on webs of reinforced organic fiber and leaping from ledge to ledge to rescue helpless citizens. The true test came when the Green Goblin Bowser—riding an armored glider shaped like a flying shell and armed with explosive fire-pumpkins—kidnapped Mayor Peach atop the Clock Tower. Leaping through bursts of flame and dodging mutant Koopas, Mario used his webs to seal the villain's thrusters and catapult him straight into the East River with a perfect acrobatic jump. Since that day, removing his mask only to catch his breath after a long rooftop patrol, Mario keeps watch over the metropolis. He no longer needs pipes to travel: the entire city is his circuit, and no villain can escape his web.
