🐸 HOPPY TRAILS A Froggy Race Across Playgrid Pond, for 2 Players Puddles and Sprout are ready to cross Playgrid Pond! Build your trail, collect flowers, leap over obstacles, and race to the other side. But remember: getting home first doesn't always mean you win! A short version of the rules is included as PDF.  Below is more descriptive version of gameplay.   🎯 THE GOAL Be the first frog to reach your Home while collecting as many 🌸 flowers as you can. The frog who reaches Home first earns 3 bonus flowers, then the game immediately ends. Count your flowers. The frog with the most flowers wins! You can win the race and still lose the game, so choose your hops wisely!   🪷 SET UP Place the Playgrid Pond between the two players. Place the four logs as shown on the rules diagram (C3, C8, H3, H8) Set out the lily pad spinner and supply tray on table. Place the flowers in their supply. Choose your frog: Puddles or Sprout. Place each frog on its matching Start space. Each player takes 3 flowers. The pond is ready. Let the hopping begin!   🌀 ON YOUR TURN You have two choices:   OPTION 1 — SPIN 1. Spin the spinner. Take the trail tile that matches the picture on the spinner. If the spinner shows a 🌸 flower, take one flower too. 2. Follow the arrow. Look at the arrows on the trail tile your frog is currently on. Place your new tile in the open space in the direction shown by the arrow. 3. HOP! Move your frog onto your new tile. Your trail now continues from your new tile.   OPTION 2 — LEAP! 🐸 Instead of spinning, you can spend flowers to make a Leap. 1 flower: Leap 1 space 2 flowers: Leap 2 spaces Place the Leap Target tile on an open space in the direction you choose, then move your frog directly onto it. You can Leap over: 🪵 Logs 🪷 Your own trail 🪷 Your opponent's trail You can never land on a log or another trail. A Leap can be used even when you have a legal normal move. Use one to escape a jam, take a shortcut, catch up, or change your route!   🪵 LOGS The four logs are obstacles on Playgrid Pond—but they can also be worth a flower! When your trail reaches a log and your frog is next to it: 🌸 Collect 1 flower. Then flip the log over to its other side. The flipped side has no flower, so that log cannot reward another flower. You still cannot place a tile on a log or land on one. If a log blocks your path, you'll need to find another way—or Leap over it!   🪷 FOLLOW THE TRAIL The arrows on your current tile tell you where your next tile can go. STRAIGHT Continue straight ahead. LEFT/RIGHT TURN Your next tile can turn left or right. ANY DIRECTION This tile has three arrows: forward, left, and right. Choose one of those directions on your next turn. LEAP! 🐸 The Leap Target tile has four arrows: forward, backward, left, and right. On your next turn, you may continue in any open direction. Once a trail tile is placed, it stays where it is. You may never place a tile on a log, another trail, or outside the pond. You may never move your frog backward onto a space already used by your trail.   🌸 FLOWERS Flowers are both fuel for Leaps and points at the end of the game. You start with 3 flowers. You can earn more from the spinner or by reaching a flower-covered log. Spend them carefully—every flower you spend on a Leap is one less flower you can score!   🏁 REACH HOME! Keep building your trail and hopping across Playgrid Pond. The first frog to reach its Home gets 3 bonus flowers. The game ends immediately. Everyone counts their flowers. 🌸 MOST FLOWERS WINS! If you have the most flowers, you are the champion of Playgrid Pond!   🐸 HOP SMART. HOP FAR. HOPPY TRAILS! Hoppy Trails was designed to work with the Playgrid ecosystem and can use any modular grid.  My modified borders include flower trays and thematic game elements.   BUILD NOTES: Everything was printed with PLA at .20.  I used a smooth plate on most elements, but a textured plate works fine as well. Colors used: Mistletoe Green, Bright Green, Cyan, Pink, White, Turquosie, Brown, Red   Boost MeWe hope you enjoy Hoppy Trails as much as we did designing it and playing it!  Please send us a boost to keep the games hoppin!
