Articulated Walleye (Sander vitreus)

The name says it all, walleye are named after their large highly reflective pupils. These gamefish are native to Canada and the Northern US, especially in the Great Lakes and midwest regions. Their specialized eyes allows them to hunt in low visibility, deep water, murky water, or night time. Anglers use the term “walleye chop” to describe rough choppy water conditions that stir up sediment and make for good fishing. The fish is a staple food source and is the number one fish exported from the Great Lakes, beating yellow perch. Their meat is mild and buttery making it easy to cook with. I can say from experience that the walleye fingers at the Minnesota State Fair are fantastic! Anglers target these fish in deep water by attaching a worm or baitfish to a weight and bouncing it along the bottom. During spawning, a female walleye can lay up to 500,000 eggs, this allows them to quickly populate new lakes they are introduced in, a practice that has been common over the last 100 years.    This species was highly requested by the community. Like my other models, the interlocking scale units allow the model to “swim”. The model is printed in halves and assembled by aligning the halves with the registration pin, adding glue to the flat part of the head, tail, fins, and perimeter scales, and press the two halves together. The model is 150 mm (6") long so it can fit on an A1-mini, but it can be scaled up as large as you want in Bambu Studio.
