Under Pressure captures that exact moment: a massive elephant suspended in an almost impossible balance, supported by a human figure struggling beneath its weight. The exaggerated contrast between the two subjects turns the sculpture into a visual metaphor for pressure, strength, resilience and balance. For the finished piece, I wanted the materials to reinforce that contrast: the elephant can be finished in matte black with Silver Rub ’n Buff, allowing the metallic highlights to catch every wrinkle and sculpted detail, while the human figure remains clean white.
