  I designed this camera obscura to safely view the eclipse. Check safety guideline below!   A few key details you should know! The model is 100% functional, but it isn't fully finished yet: the cap doesn't stay in place, and while the extension fits perfectly, it doesn't stay secured on its own. Use some duct tape to keep them in place. Using the extension is optional; the main piece works perfectly on its own. With the extension, the projection will be approximately 5 mm, compared to 3 mm without it.   The extension already includes the white layers (be sure to use the .3mf file as a reference). If you decide not to use the extension, you will need to print the cap separately—the white layers are built into its .3mf file as well. If you ar not using the 3mf, make sure to add layer changes at height.   It's possible to print all 1 one color, just add a piece of white paper as a screen.   Essential Eclipse Viewing Safety Rules Never Look Directly at the Sun Without Protection Looking directly at the Sun—even during a partial eclipse—can cause permanent eye damage or blindness (solar retinopathy). Standard sunglasses, unfiltered camera lenses, binoculars, and telescopes are not safe. Safe Indirect Viewing (Camera Obscura & Pinhole Projectors) A camera obscura or pinhole projector is an indirect viewing method. Always keep your back turned to the Sun while looking at the projected image on the viewing surface—never look through the pinhole or aperture directly at the Sun. Use Certified Eclipse Glasses for Direct Viewing If you choose to look directly at the Sun, use only solar viewers or eclipse glasses that meet the ISO 12312-2 international safety standard. Check the filters for scratches, punctures, or tears before use; discard them immediately if damaged. Do Not Pair Filters with Optical Devices Never use eclipse glasses or handheld viewers while looking through a camera lens, telescope, binoculars, or any other optical device. The concentrated solar rays can burn through the filter and cause severe eye injury instantly. Supervise Children Always ensure children are properly supervised when using eclipse glasses or camera obscura projectors to prevent accidental direct solar exposure.
