Descripción
Mantis Hand Description A fully 3D-printable model of a cybernetic right hand featuring the iconic Mantis Blade. The model consists of an articulated hand with fully functional fingers and a thumb-activated blade lifting mechanism on the forearm. The entire system relies on a refined set of gears. Design Goal My main goal for this project was to create a fully functional hand. I noticed that most existing models take away the usability of the hand itself, and I wanted to change that. On top of that, I wanted to ensure that the blade lifting mechanism could be operated using that very same hand. Aesthetics & Scale I wanted to combine a realistic look with such a complex mechanism. While playing the game, the blade always looked much larger to me, and I used to wonder how it could actually fit inside the forearm. Having completed this project, I can safely say it's completely doable—provided, of course, that the arm is heavily cyberized. Scaling and Sizing Scale the entire model according to the dimensions of your hand: Choose your scale using the chart below: Important: The selected scale applies to all printed parts of the model! Print Settings Note: Glue is required for proper assembly. I recommend printing all components using PETG. Layer Height: 0.2 mm Nozzle Size: 0.4 mm Top Shells: 1.2 mm Bottom Shells: 1.2 mm Infill: 20% Supports: Tree supports recommended For the best results, I recommend using the provided print profile without any modifications. Assembly A detailed step-by-step assembly guide is included with the download. Design Challenges When the project was about 90% finished, I realized that two of my main goals were conflicting with each other: keeping a realistic scale and implementing a dual-extending blade mechanism. I was forced to drop the telescopic extension for now—in this version, the blade only raises up. I'm not giving up, though! I can assure you that a version with a fully dual-extending blade will see the light of day eventually. A word from the creator: I hate gears. My sincere apologies to all left-handed people! Model Information: The blade was created based on the game and similar references. Any similarities stem from the fact that there is only one core model of this blade in the game, differing only in names and color schemes.
