Articulated Geometric Pendant Lamp A Challenging Build with a Stunning Result I wanted to create this project especially for the Articulated Mechanism Challenge Design Contest, and with just one day to spare, it's finally finished! It has been quite a challenge to complete within the deadline, with countless hours spent designing, prototyping, testing, redesigning and refining every component to make sure everything worked as intended. Scaled to fit 250 mm+ build plates, this project gives you the freedom to create the lamp in any colour or colour combination you can imagine. Print it in a classic single colour for a clean, modern look, or take advantage of an AMS to create a completely unique multi-colour version. This has been one of my most ambitious CAD projects to date, and I'm excited to finally share it with the community. Printing Information All development and testing was completed using Bambu PLA, with excellent results. For improved long-term durability, I recommend printing the following structural components in ABS, ASA, PETG or another stronger engineering filament: Connector Rings Arms Y-Frames Connector Split Rings These parts support the majority of the lamp's weight once assembled. Estimated print time: Approximately 42 hours. Print Quantities Plate 3: Print 10 copies Plate 4: Print 5 copies Assembly The lamp has been designed using custom split-ring connectors, allowing the entire assembly to be completed using printed components. For maximum strength and long-term reliability, I recommend replacing these with 34 × M3 × 20 mm bolts and 33 × M3 nyloc nuts during final assembly. The shades are designed to press-fit onto the arms using friction. This provides a secure fit, although a small amount of glue is recommended if you want a permanent assembly. Pendant Fitting The top connector ring includes a 30 mm opening designed to accommodate a standard UK ceiling light pendant. If your pendant fitting differs in size, the opening can easily be modified in Bambu Studio before printing. Additional Hardware Required 1 × Ceiling light pendant 34 × M3 × 20 mm bolts 33 × M3 nyloc nuts Approximately 12 inches (300 mm) of pull cord 1 × 4 mm × 15 mm spring (a spring from an old biro pen works perfectly) Glue (recommended for permanent assembly) Commercial Licence This model is for personal use only. No commercial rights are granted for this design, even if you are subscribed to one of my Commercial Membership tiers. This model is excluded from my commercial licence and may not be sold as printed products, included in commercial bundles, or redistributed in any form. Sorry! Final Notes This is a large, rewarding project that takes time to print and assemble, but the finished result is well worth the effort.
