Descripción
I wanted to do this Project for a while and when this Contest was announced i had to try to finally build a mechanical Mantis Blade with a telescopic extending Blade. As the timeline was tight i decided to use whatever materials i had on stock so the build requires quite a few non printed parts. Features: Blade extends from 390 mm length to 590 mm Thrusting Motion of 225 mm forewards Direct link of both movements to wrist position Change the handle position for left or right Version and different hand sizes! Blade is slightly bent for more dynamic look Style Elements from Cyberpunk Version are adapted How it works: Lets break down the chain of Movements: Your Wrist tilts 100 degrees A linkage converts it to 120 degrees of tilt in the thrust-arm The GT2 belt keeps the Blade level, however it has a gear ratio of 60 to 58 teeth resulting in 117,5 degree of blade rotation This Rotation of the blade is converted via 2 gear stages into roughly 1,5 rotations of a spool. This spool winds and unwinds a nylon cord which is moving the blade back and forth. A ball cage is guiding the blade, preventing any wobbling while keeping friction low at the same time. Assembly: I have created a pdf manual showing all individual steps. The correct installation of the nylon cord pulling the blade takes some patience. I recommend you to have some level of experience with mechanical assemblies if you want to attempt this build.
