Descripción

Introducing Duna, a small desk clock built around a face that behaves like a landscape. The dial is a soft sculpted ripple in sand tone, held inside a rounded square case, and two bare hands sweep across it without a single numeral to interrupt the surface. The frame in the photos is walnut cut on my CNC, and the files ship the same frame as a fully 3D printable part, so the piece is yours either way.   Design & Concept I designed Dune around the idea that a clock does not need to announce itself. Taking the numerals away leaves the hands and the surface, and the surface is where the piece lives: a gentle dune relief that catches light differently through the day, flat and warm at midday, deeply shadowed by evening. The case sits the dial slightly recessed, which frames it the way a vitrine frames an object. Wood and filament are both first-class here, because a dark printed frame lands the same contrast against the sand-toned body that walnut does, with nothing but the plate.   Key Features: Sculpted Dial: A soft dune relief replaces the printed face, so the hands read against a landscape instead of against numbers. No Numerals: Two hands and nothing else. The hour is legible at a glance without a mark on the surface. Wood or Filament: The walnut frame in the photos is my CNC build. The uploaded files include the same outer frame as a printable part, no workshop required. Two-Tone Build: A dark frame around a sand-toned body, straight off the plate with no painting. Clean Assembly: Outer frame, inner body, hour hand, minute hand, and a rear cover that closes the case and hides the movement. Desk Scale: Compact enough for a nightstand or a shelf, solid enough to hold its own beside a stack of books. Hardware Required: MakerWorld Clock Kit: Required. The kit supplies the movement that drives the hour and minute hands. Assembly Print the outer frame, the inner body, the two hands, and the rear cover. The outer frame can also be machined in wood if you have a CNC. Seat the inner body inside the outer frame. Install the movement from the MakerWorld Clock Kit through the back of the inner body. Fit the hour hand and then the minute hand onto the shaft. Close the case with the rear cover. Commercial License The downloaded files are for personal use only. Download Dune today and let the hours drift across it. I'd love to see whether you build yours in wood or in filament.
