Planetary Gear Screwdriver A compact, dual-mode mechanical screwdriver powered by an internal 4:1 planetary gear system! Key Features: Dual-Mode Operation: Push the front lock back for high-speed driving (4 turns per single rotation of the handle), perfect for quickly running down long threads. Slide the lock forward to engage high-torque mode for final tightening. Two Build Options: Choose between the full-hardware version using standard 604/6702 bearings and 3x20 mm dowel pins, or the 100% printable version that requires only a single standard M3 screw! Complete PDF Assembly Manual: Step-by-step PDF instructions are attached below for both hardware and non-hardware builds, complete with troubleshooting tips. How It Works & How to Use It The screwdriver has two modes.  For fast tightening or unscrewing, make sure the lock piece is in the back position. Holding the main body part with one hand and twisting the back piece will cause the front bit holder to rotate fast with a ratio of 4:1 (one turn of the back will cause the front to spin 4 times). This mode is ideal for long threaded screws to tighten them quickly.  For final tightening or high-torque mode, engage the lock at the front by pushing the lock piece into the front position. This will lock the bit axle piece to the main handle piece so you can use it like a regular screwdriver. Printing Instructions & Parts Read all about how to print this model and what extra parts you'll need. Parts As mentioned before, there are two variants, and I've provided print profiles for both. You can also start with the no-hardware version and simply reprint a few parts later if you decide to build the full version, the main parts are completely compatible. Check the Kits and Parts section below to see what hardware is needed.   In the picture below: Left: Parts used in both variants Middle: Extra parts required for the hardware version Right: Parts unique to the non-hardware variant Filaments & Settings The print profiles include the exact settings that worked best for me. For materials, I recommend PLA, PETG, or ABS. I would stay away from fiber-filled or silk filaments: fiber-filled materials can leave rough surfaces, and silk filaments tend to swell, making it harder to reproduce exact dimensions and tight tolerances. The front piece has a standard 1/4" (6.35 mm) hex socket, compatible with standard screwdriver bits or magnetic bit extensions.
