Inspired by the “Cyberdeck” concept, this is a “lapdock” that turns a Modern Samsung phone into a portable laptop using the Samsung DeX mode. I was inspired by the "Cyberdeck” concept and wanted to build my own, but I didn't want to create a single-board computer or learn how to solder. So, I used of-the-shelf components to turn my phone into a portable laptop. The reasoning: Most new Samsung phones are powerful, everything is already on my phone (email, images, contact info … etc.) and my phone is always online through data, by Turing my phone into a laptop I don't have to worry about transferring data or login to services on a different device (laptop, tablet. etc.) The term “Lapdock” was created by to the best of my knowledge "Macro USB." https://youtube.com/@macro-usb?si=gPqTk_z_BjWt8Fst The components used are: Phone: Samsung Galaxy S25 ultra Power bank: UGREEN Nexode 20000mAh https://a.co/d/01SXiOgK Hub: UGREEN USB C Hub 5 in 1 Multiport USB Adapter https://a.co/d/0fMWgA6n Display: Portable Monitor,10.5" https://a.co/d/07FW6lxY Keyboard and Mouse: Logitech Pebble 2 Combo https://a.co/d/08HATvKb Hardware: 4 M3*30mm screws for the hinge 4 M3 Bolts for the hinge 6 M3*10mm for assembly 6 M3*6*5 head inserts 18 8mm x 3mm round magnets Notes: The power bank does not have an On/Off switch so the hub and the display draw power regardless of whether it is in use or not. Recommend getting a power bank with a switch. I have gotten around this by using a magnetic adapter: https://a.co/d/0hQWFrWN to physically disconnect the wires. Also, getting shorter wires is necessary as the wires that come with the display are long.
