Descripción
Brown trout are another common species of trout targeted by anglers, and the newest flexi model in my collection. Originally native to Europe, western Asia, and northern Africa, this species has been transported worldwide to such a degree that it is one of the top 100 invasive species in the world. With such a wide dispersal, many forms and subspecies have formed ranging in appearance and behavior. Some are anadromous meaning they swim out to sea to spend most of their lives, returning only to spawn. During spawning season, males develop a kype, or hooked bottom jaw to help them fight other males for breeding territory. While this characteristic is not unique to this species, it's something I wanted to include in the model to capture the appearance of trophy brown trout caught by anglers. Large specimens can reach 40 lbs and 31 inches. Brown trout are generalist predators meaning they'll eat a wide array of bugs, invertebrates, frogs, and even mice. This model uses interlocking scale units to swim and is printed in 2 halves, aligned with the registration pin and secured by glue on the flat faces. The model prints in 4 colors so it is printable with 1 AMS. Keyring versions are also available on plate 2 of each print profile. The fish were also designed to fit on a single A1-mini plate, but can be scaled up as large as you want. Like my Rainbow Trout model I've provided a separate print profile that removes the fish's spots to reduce purge, the spots can then be painted on with acrylic after printing. Happy printing (and fishing)!
